View our range of Coffee tables
The expression 'coffee table' originated over a hundred years ago with the Ottoman tradition of serving coffee and deliciously sweet pastries on exquisitely decorated low tables. At the same time, the Chinese were serving fragrant teas on their own little tables inlaid with mother of pearl and this concept of a coffee or occasional table quickly spread to Britain where, today, it is a mainstay of living room furniture. Coffee tables have become multi-purpose - we use them as design statements, for storage, somewhere to stack magazines, books and even a place to put our feet up in front of the TV.
At The Pier, we love unusual solutions and we've got plenty of ideas for coffee tables. Why not choose surprising materials like banana bark, richly coloured rattan, slatted Chinese walnut or crushed bamboo? Make your coffee table double as storage - take a look at our wonderful trunks, boxes and low drawer cabinets with decorative inspiration from China to Indonesia; or how about putting two side tables together to create your own unique coffee table?
Our coffee tables are as varied as the countries they come from; choose the beautifully carved Indian acacia coffee table, Kerala, decorated with authentic Jali designs or opt for the silky smooth Chinese burr elm inlay and Oriental style of Makada, not to mention the wide range of coffee tables from rich dark wood to smart glass and chrome.

Care of our wooden furniture
All woods will mellow and darken in natural light and this is more noticeable on lighter finishes. Bear this in mind if you keep any objects on the table surface for extended periods as they will also leave areas of lighter wood.
Keep furniture away from heat sources to prevent warping and splitting.
Clean with a moist soft cloth and dry immediately.
Liquid spills should be removed immediately to avoid staining.
Always use tablemats and coasters.
Do not use wax polishes on furniture which has a protective lacquer or varnished finish.

Important - Have you checked your measurements?
This is stating the obvious, we know, but particularly when ordering larger items (wardrobes etc) it is important that you carefully measure both the ultimate location of the item and ALSO whether it can be manoeuvred through doors and hallways to get to its destination. If you have narrow doorways or a staircase with tight corners, please be sure to check again and get in touch with us if there's a problem.Wax-finished products can be re-waxed occasionally.
